Values & Beliefs

  • We believe that most yuoth problems can be responded to appropritely and safely by community-based organizations within the youth's community. - provided that sufficient resources are committed to indigenous organizations who have the experience and commitment to serve youth within their communities.
  • We believe in youth and their capacity, with sufficient guidance, support and positive intervention to achieve, thrive and become responsible contributing members of their communities. We believe that with proper support and encouragement, young people can help address the needs of the commuinty and partcipate in peer to peer support activities.

Statement of Philosophy

We hold that cooperation and communication of the above nature is needed if we are to be a part of the growth taking place within the Westside area. We accept the many different methods of operation on the part of our association members and in no way would membership require restrictiveness of method. However, we also accept the very real need of cooperation and unity of action when such action is held to be for the collective good of the community. The sum total of our participation within the association would, therefore, be based on a unit of purpose being the development of the Westside community, while the method to reach the goal would be based on the ability of agencies and individuals to participate as that participation relates to the agency and individual goals and objectives.
